by Tom Faucet 09 Oct 2024

As an indispensable part of a happy home life, shower system is closely related to our lives. We want it to perform well and also show the good taste of the owner. But how do we choose a suitable shower system? If you're looking for a new shower system, here's what you need to know.

Shower heads can be divided into five categories, many of them come with optional features for you to choose.

Shower Fixture Types

Single-head Shower Spray Head

Simple design brings better product experience, you can flexibly adjust the water flow and water temperature through the lever handle.

Rain Shower Head

Ultra-thin spray head made of stainless steel, which adopts airpower technology mixes water with air to make lighter and softer water droplets that pamper your skin.

Dual or Multiple Shower Head

A shower system with two or more shower heads, usually adjusted by a lever handle or multiple lever handles, the most common combination is a rain shower head with a handheld shower, and diverter valve allows the user to operate either one or both.

Hand-held Shower Head

Single hand-held shower head with a flexible hose, particularly suitable for those with limited mobility and those who may prefer to sit while bathing. It's also great for flushing the bathroom or bathing pets.

Body Jets/Body Sprays

You can enjoy a full-body shower with body jets/ body sprays which are integrated into the shower wall. These nozzles are usually flat and nearly flush with the wall. Shower system with body jets/body sprays is more expensive and requires higher water pressure, which needs to be confirmed before purchase.

Shower Fixture Finishes

Shower head, handle, and valve control has a variety of surface treatment, including polished chrome, brushed nickel, brushed gold, matte black, white, etc. Different finishes present different styles. Remember that polished surfaces are elegant, but require frequent maintenance to keep them looking bright and free of spots. The brushed or matte finishes are better at hiding water spots and fingerprints.

Shower Valve

Basic understanding of valve is essential, it helps to match you needs at reasonable cost.

Mixing Valve

A basic device for mixing hot and cold water, when you twist the temperature lever/knob, you are adjusting the mixing valve.

Pressure Balance Valve

Pressure balance valve, also known as scald valve, is safer for children and elderly to use.It maintains a constant temperature by changing the pressure, so the overall flow rate of the water may fluctuate.

Thermostatic Valve

Another version of the pressure balance valve, it maintains a constant temperature, but unlike traditional pressure balance valves, the thermostatic version maintains a constant pressure.Thermostatic valves cost twice as much as simple pressure balance valves.
